My New Book Ties Into the College Admissions Scandal
Did you know that there’s a new book about the college admissions scandal? There is. I know, because I wrote and published it. Thanks to print-on-demand technology, we can manifest a book almost as quickly as we can conceptualize and write it. A book can emerge from our thoughts onto its own Amazon page within a few days.
My latest book did just that.
As soon as Lori Loughlin, Felicity Huffman, and other Hollywood celebrities emerged as the part of the college admissions scandal (code named Operation Varsity Blues), my imagination was fully engaged. I decided to see how the felines of Cattywood might deal with their own college emissions scandal.
Less than 72 hours later, I had an ebook and trade paperback book available for sale on Amazon. It’s called Feline Operation Barfitty Blues: The College Emissions Scandal. What a wonderfully joyous way to spend the weekend!
Once the both versions of Feline Operation Barfitty Blues were ready to go, I decided to have fun with the book’s newsworthiness. (Remember: I’m a book publicist as well as an author and book publisher.) I did that by adding the appropriate keywords and key phrases to the Amazon book description. Much to my delight, it worked!
If you narrow your Amazon search to “books,” and you look for any of the key phrases I selected — Lori Loughlin, Felicity Huffman, college admissions scandal, and Operation Varsity Blues — the listing for Feline Operation Barfitty Blues appears. How cool is that?
Does Your Book Have a News Hook?
Does that give you any ideas for writing, and publishing, your own book as soon as a news event captures your imagination?
Also, if you’ve been struggling to find a literary agent who would agree to present your book to a publishing company that may, or may not, buy your book and make it available in a year or two…does the story of Feline Operation Barfitty Blues help you understand that there’s a better way?
Empower yourself to bring your book idea to market without waiting another moment for someone else to validate your work. You can self-publish your book just as I did, and it doesn’t have to be time-consuming or expensive.
